Connectivity is a vital service for people in British Columbia. Reliable, high-speed internet helps us work, learn, and access services. It also helps us do business locally and globally. Access to cellular connectivity keeps us connected and safe in our vehicles along highways and in remote areas. It lets us access emergency services when and where we need them.
Much of the province is connected to reliable internet and cellular services, but some rural and remote regions still lack access. The B.C. Government funds programs to support the expansion of connectivity infrastructure. The Province also supports local and Indigenous governments with connectivity planning.
Government aims to connect every household in B.C. to high-speed internet access by 2027. The commitment to specifically connect every First Nations household in B.C. is outlined in the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act Action Plan.
